how to choose and use crystals
Updated: Aug 15, 2018
Working with crystals is transformative. They are an earth tool that has been around since the beginning of time. One of my favorite things about crystals is that they are so accessible and easy to use. When I have a crystal with me at the yoga studio or in my purse, many people wonder what it’s for and if it actually works.
My answer is always this: crystals are a tool and they have never taken away from my life, only added.
We all crave connection and relationships. This stems from our need to survive. Our relationship and connection to one another is important, but so is our relationship and connection to the planet. If you don’t feel connected to the earth, that may be a sign you NEED to reestablish your connection. Our Earth is a miracle and we should take the time to remember that we are part of something much, much bigger.
Why crystals work:
They boost your mood by looking at them. Crystals have undeniable beauty that can instantly make you stop and stare. Look at the color, shape, and size and notice all the intricate details.
Crystals have a higher frequency and our bodies work to match that frequency, instantly uplifting you.
When you approach them with an open mind and willingness to work, they will reciprocate.
Crystals have been around and used since ancient times and are STILL being utilized… amazing!
How to choose a crystal:
Be open minded. My favorite thing to do is to walk up to a crystal display and look around without any expectation or fixed agenda. A quick scan allows me to narrow in on one or two that capture my attention, no matter what the information card says.
Trust your gut. Once you narrow in on one or two that catch your eye, stick with them. It’s important that you allow the energy of the crystal to do it’s thing. You will be attracted to the crystals that you need intuitively.
Don’t second guess. When I first started collecting crystals, I would do the things listed above to pick a crystal and then read the card and try to find crystals that better matched what my ego thought I needed. Little did I know or recognize that my thoughts and belief systems were over-riding my intuition and trying to manipulate my decisions. Whether I connect to the meaning of the crystal right away or not, I still go with the crystal that calls me because that is what I truly need, whether I know it at the time or not.
Cleanse & set your intention:
Once you have your crystal it is important to cleanse it and remove any energy that was previously held by the stone. You can check out my previous post about crystals here for more info.
Setting an intention for your crystal gives it a new life and is an incredibly powerful tool. Be very clear and purposeful about what you would like to bring more of into your life, whether it be calm, peace, money, love, etc. Hold your crystal between your hands and repeat your intention a few times.
Simple ways to incorporate crystals into your life:
Carry them in your pocket or bag
Wear them (necklace, ring, bracelet)
Decorate your home with them
Have one in your car
