life & learning update: IIN's holistic health coach training
Updated: Aug 15, 2018
I decided to take a little break from posting regularly because I needed a minute (or two) to figure out what exactly I was doing. I felt like I was at this crossroads that had very little direction or purpose. Around May, I was feeling low and like I wasn’t making an impact through blog posts or social media and that’s when I decided to cut myself a break and really allow myself to let go of posting every week until I was excited about writing again. That being said, I never considered myself a writer until I started feeling like I had a lot to say and share about my experiences. And so, the month of July has brought about epic amounts of transformation, healing, and growth.
It always amazes me when you look back and can see that the times when you felt most out of touch with yourself and with your purpose, are the times you needed to go within and release expectations to perform or produce. Recently, I had a conversation with Maryann Russell, who is an AMAZING intuitive soul reader, and shared with her that for months I was lacking direction and felt so so stagnant. She comforted me by reminding me that this was the time I needed in order to progress and get closer to my highest purpose. Also, Maryann is the BEST. I’ve been working with her for about 3 years now and could probably write a whole post on her so more to come in the future…
As I turned in and tuned in to what the universe was directing me to, I stayed patient. Patience does not come easily to me. However, for the first time I found ease in releasing and waiting for my next move. Then, one day I saw an ad for the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) that peaked my interest. I’ve always had a passion for food and cooking - religiously watching The Food Network and requesting to cook dinner for my family when I was only 13. Through my wellness journey, nutrition was always something that I would research for hours, experiment with different diet theories, and seek to understand the latest trends. As I began investigating the IIN website and reading articles and blog posts from people who had completed the program, it resonated on such a deep level that this was the exact program that I had always been searching for.
Why I chose IIN
For me, nutrition has always been MORE than the food you eat. I have consistently connected with the idea that the way in which you live your life and overall health contributes to how you feel. As I began reading and watching IIN videos, it was clear that the school also believes in this philosophy and sees the interconnected web that every aspect of our life plays in our health and wellness. THIS was exactly what I have been trying to put into words for years. My wellness journey has been deeply personal not because I eat more green foods and am very purposeful with the foods I choose to put in my body, but because of the way my overall life has changed in the process.
What I will gain from completing IIN
This course will take me one year to complete and gives me the freedom to go to school at my convenience because of the flexibility of online school. Each week, a module is released that includes videos, articles, and assignments. The assignments are deep, personal reflections on your own life that allow you to put into practice the philosophy of IIN. Not only am I learning how to support others to reach their full potential, but I am also reflecting on my own life in order to identify what is going well and where I need to find more balance. At the end of the program, I will be named an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, which means that I can guide those interested through questioning and empower them to elevate their health.
